π» Lower Abs Β· updated September 2026
β± 30 secπ 3 setsπΆ intermediateπΏ low-impact
Targets: the lower abdominals and hip flexors through continuous alternating tension
How to do it
- 1Lie on your back, hands under your hips, lower back pressed into the floor.
- 2Lift both legs to about 45 degrees.
- 3Lower one leg toward the floor while the other stays up, then switch in a smooth scissor motion.
- 4Keep the reps slow and the lower back glued down throughout.
Form tips
- β’ The lower your legs travel, the harder it gets β only go as low as your back stays pressed down.
- β’ Point the toes and keep legs long; the motion is from the hips, not the knees.
- β’ Exhale rhythmically with each switch.
Common mistakes
- β’ Lower back arching off the floor (shorten the range β this is the #1 error).
- β’ Fast, floppy kicks β slow scissors work triple.
- β’ Lifting the head and straining the neck; keep it down or support it lightly.
